Sometimes, all it takes is a little thing to distract you from the clock, and momentarily make you forget how good a (dozen) decorated sugar cookie(s) would taste right about now.
Today, my inbox was that thing, that little thing that turned my frown upside down because nothing excites me like the word "WINNER!"
Long story short, I won a contest that I entered. I won the GRAND PRIZE! And that prize is an absolutely fantastic limited edition art print by illustrator Tom Bagshaw.
Tom works under the name "Mostlywanted" in Bath, England. He recently opened his online store and to celebrate, he was giving away 3 of his prints. The print that I won is called "O-dokuro" which was a piece in a recent show he had called "Yokai Dreams." It is 16" x 16" and is a giclee print, which according to GicleePrint.Net is
Giclee (zhee-klay) - The French word "giclée" is a feminine noun that means a spray or a spurt of liquid. The word may have been derived from the French verb "gicler" meaning "to squirt".
It's a fancy word for a very high quality method of printing. Or, squirting ink on paper if you want to get all French about it.
In any case, here is "O-dokuro."

Isn't it mesmerizing and ethereal? It's all sorts of adjectives that I can't even think of. It's just boss, and I'm so happy it's mine.
Here are a few other illustrations that Tom did, the first is "Tsukomagami" also from the Yokai Dreams show.

This one is from a calendar for the Central Illustration Agency, a sort of collective of designers and illustrators that Tom is a member of.
Want some beautiful artwork of your very own? Please mosey on over to Tom's online store.
