Prime Time Event

Thank goodness for the internet and thank goodness for friends who love to watch TV as much as I do! If it were not for both of those I would have missed out on a very special commercial that aired on NBC just prior to their broadcast of the Emmys on Aug. 29th.

I know it's a fast and intense commercial so I'll just point out the 2 most important shots:

That's me, Bavarian Erin, and 2 quotes I used to describe the pilot episode of NBC's "The Event", which I'm sure you remember reading about last month when I would not shut up about it. They were from posts that I had made on Twitter that same day, meaning that NBC saved them, which I think is totally awesome.

Tiffany Blake was the first person to notify me, on Facebook and on Twitter, followed shortly by a post from Paul Horn via his Twitter account (@CoolJerk). Since I had not recorded the Emmy pre-show (for the first time in ever) I went on a mad scramble to find it. Tiffany's husband, Chris, joined in the search and was the one who got the screen shots for me from another friend of his.

This afternoon NBC posted the video on their website, and the official Facebook page for "The Event".

I hope that folks are willing to give The Event a chance. I've read some negative comments regarding similarities between ABC's Lost and The Event and in my opinion, I think they are very unfair. In the history of television there have been many, MANY shows dealing with conspiracy theories. Lost wasn't first, nor was it the first television show to present plot questions and then answer them at a later date. There is a whole genre of shows and movies that have had the same formula. They are called mysteries, suspense stories, dramas and even soap operas. So, if, until the end of time, any show that has a mysterious element to it has to be compared to Lost, then so be it. I can tell, after one episode, that the creators of The Event are committed to telling a cohesive and intriguing story and that's all I'm asking for as a viewer.

Screw the haters, and that's saying something since I'm usually the "hater."
