It's been a looong while since I've sat down to write a blog that I didn't already have planned out and researched at such. Earlier this year I decided I wanted to make my blog less journal-esque and more topic/themed oriented, which I think I've done for the most part, but sometimes I just want to talk about lots of little things that are swimming in my brain. Now is one of those times.
It's July. Consider my mind blown. It's been an incredibly fast year so far. I guess that means I'm keeping busy, I mean, it *should* mean that but frankly, I have a lot of free time that I waste. A LOT. I work only 3 days a week. Sometimes I work from home but that's only a few hours a month. I quit mystery shopping so that means I have 4 day weekends every single week. I *should* be getting lots of cleaning and organizing and volunteering done. I'm not. In fact, I haven't even finished any of my crafty projects that I started months ago.
I should blame the weather, say, it's just too hot out to do anything. That's not true, the weather this week was really nice, we have not even ran the air conditioner at home.
So, what have I been doing? *pause...think...think...think....* Well, I've been planning a bunch for my upcoming trip to San Diego. By "planning" I mostly mean refreshing Twitter over and over looking for new announcements. I'm trying hard not to over-plan this year, since it leads to over-expectations which leads to last years disappointments. So, instead of calling it "planning" let's just say I'm doing "research" that sounds much more sane don't you think?
We've already had the most incredible bad luck, actually no, scratch that, it wasn't "bad luck" because human decision was involved. We had been trying since last October to book the same condo we had last year and the douche bag was giving us the run-around, telling us that yes, he was DEFINITELY holding the condo for us and that the paperwork would be coming soon. In April, after the 23rd phone call he finally admitted that he had rented the until to someone else for more money. We were pissed but not screwed because in my infinite wisdom I had also booked a room at the Holiday Inn where we had previously stayed. It's not within walking distance, like the condo was, but we're going to make due. We have to, we already booked the flights in October!
Then we had another little hiccup. Our friend, Matt Martin, is also going to San Diego and was supposed to stay with us. The Holiday Inn has a booked for a "King" room and because all this crap happened so late and they had since fully booked, they could not change our room to one with 2 beds. *Sigh* So, I spent one full afternoon on the phone with them, begging to book us into room 518. In 2007 we got booked into room 518 by happenstance and it's the most incredible room ever. It's a King room but also has a pull out sofa. It's also about 70% larger than a regular room. I thought that if 3 people were going to be stuck in a King room I might as well try to make it one with a sofa. So, as of today we are booked into Room 518 *fingers crossed*.
I am obsessing in a big way regarding what clothes to take. I want to be covered but comfortable but stylish but versatile since I won't have ready access to a washing machine. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who worries about this as much as I do.
Paxton Rhubarb made it though her yearly shots with no allergic reactions or emergency trips back to the vet. She only needed boardatella (kennel cough) and distemper this year, not rabies, but we were still worried. We even spent and extra 95$ to have her blood tested, checking the amount of distemper vaccine still in her blood system in the hopes that we could hold off on that vaccine. No such luck. Poor Paxton had to have the distemper plus 2 more shots to prevent reactions.
So, yeah, that's me. Really, I'm pretty sick of myself so it would be really nice to hear what's new with YOU!
