San Diego Comic-Con 2010: Preamble Ramble

Oh San Diego Comic-Con! You’re a precious little gem. I adore you and cherish our time together, even if you make my feet hurt and (usually) make me cry at some point.

This year Superfro and I didn’t visit the zoo but instead spent much of Tuesday eating and wandering around the Gaslamp area, enjoying the wide berth we were afforded by empty sidewalks. Down near the Hard Rock Hotel we saw their “maryjane’s” restaurant begin it’s transformation into SyFy’s “CafĂ© Diem” and we saw crews busy at work readying “Flynn’s Arcade” for yet another go-round promotion Tron:Legacy. At the Gaslamp trolley stop directional signs were posted in Klingon, providing a warm welcome to Comic-Con attendees of all species. A black away from the convention center the travelling gang from our favorite t-shirt retailer, Threadless, were busy setting up for a very special comic-related shirt release. Even without the shoulder to shoulder to crowds the Gaslamp was buzzing with anticipation!

Klingon signage. Translation: Please don't feed the hobos.

We look so happy because it's still early in the day.

The Mariott to the north of the convention center was used to promote the upcoming film Skyline.

The Hilton Bayfront south of the convention center was advertising the upcoming film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World based on the graphic novels by Brian O'Malley and published by Oni Press.

Here is the awesome Threadless Airstream trailer. You'll see more of this later! SPOILER ALERT!

This is much, much later that day, after a delicious meal at Cafe Sevilla. Virgin mojitos and bacon wrapped dates were consumed and were were taking the trolley back to our hotel.

At this point we had been up for about 19 hours. It was time for nighty night!

Join me next time for highlights from our Wednesday adventures!
