San Diego Comic-Con 2010: Entertainment Geekly

About a week before Comic-Con, Superfro and I both "won" invitations to the CBS / Entertainment Weekly "Fan-demonium" party to be held on Thursday at the 207 Lounge at the Hard Rock Hotel. By "won" I mean that we were both on Twitter at the right time and used our speedy computers to send in an e-mail. It was a highly complicated and intricate process that involved formulas and matriculation and the solar system.

At the party we had a chance to talk to my favorite EW writer, Michael Ausiello. Michael is my most trusted television writer. Not only does he get all the scoops first, he delivers them with the enthusiasm of a television lover, not a jaded journalist. I asked Michael what he thought was the one show that I could not miss this fall and he didn't hesitate to say NBC's "The Event" (cue the foreshadowing music!) When I asked for a suggestions about a show that I might not already be watching he recommended the Starz original series Spartacus, which I will now totally be watching.

In addition to 2 hours of free drinks (diet cola and grenadine yo!) hors d'oeuvres and chatting with Michael, we also got to see a Q&A session hosted by EW managing editor, Jess Cagle. In attendance for this session were some of CBS' most endearing and popular "geeks";

Barrett Foa of NCIS
Pauley Perette of NCIS
Kirsten Vangsness of Criminal Minds
Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons & Kunal Nayyar of Big Bang Theory
Daniel Dae Kim of Hawaii 5-0
Grace Park of Hawaii 5-0
Jerry O'Connell from The Defenders
but who I remember as Vern "Penny" Tessio
from the movie Stand By Me.
In case you're wondering, no, these are not my photos. None of mine turned out very well so I got these from Bing. Entertainment Weekly has a swell set of photos on their site here. I do have my own photo of me with Michael Ausiello though.

His Star Wars tuxedo t-shirt is adorable! I just want to take him home and make him program my DVR!

Sidenote #1 Earlier that day we saw Penny Tessio at the Warner Bros. booth chatting it up with Corey Feldman, who was ALSO in Stand By Me. I hope they aren't planning a remake!

Sidenote #2 Our friend Matt got to attend the panel for Hawaii 5-0 in which the audience got to ask questions of the cast. First question asked: "Grace Park, are we going to get to see you in more bikinis?!?!" Classic Comic-Con!
